Dealing with Anger in a Positive Way

Most people get angry at some time or another. Anger can be caused by several different reasons. Among the most common is stress, jealousy and sleep deprivation. People deal with anger in very different ways. Do you explode like a bomb or keep it bottled up inside? Neither of these are very healthy. They can lead to high blood pressure, a stroke or ulcers.

The best way to deal with anger is to determine the source. Keeping a journal of your daily feelings and the situations behind those feelings is a good way to learn what makes you angry. Another good idea is to talk to someone, a trusted friend or even a therapist. Getting another person's perspective of the situation may help lessen the intensity of your anger.

Some people find that meditation and listening to music can calm them down. Others believe that physical activity, such as walking or running, is a good way to relieve anger. Still others feel better after letting the anger out, by screaming into a pillow or somewhere private where no one can hear them. Everyone has their own way of dealing with anger. Whatever way is best for you is okay, as long as you remember not to harm anyone else.

Anger is not a bad emotion if you are able to learn from it and not allow it to control you. If you still feel unable to deal with anger positively, then try talking to your doctor about medical assistance.
